Practical advice

Ideally ensure that your ears and hearing have been fully checked by a medical professional before entering into tinnitus and/or sound intolerance therapy.

I have over 20 years of Audiology and Hearing Therapy experience so am able to interpret and understand any Audiological information.

I am currently accepting adult clients for tinnitus and sound intolerance assessment and therapy.

I can offer bespoke practical help and advice depending on the presentation of tinnitus, sound intolerance and hearing status.

Once I take a detailed medical and psychological history I will be able to offer an explanation and reason behind the presence of tinnitus and/or sound intolerance. This is different for every client so would advise you not to relate everything you read or hear about tinnitus and sound intolerance to your personal case.

Practical advice includes three elements:

1. Masking or the use of other sounds that you like.

2. Distractions such as keeping busy or occupied in some way

3. Relaxation, stress reduction and mindful techniques. This may encompass psychotherapy.

Tinnitus and/or sound intolerance, like any chronic condition, can be incredibly emotive, so may benefit from ongoing psychotherapy to gain a state of acceptance.

Despite what you may have read on the internet there is no known cure for tinnitus, though research is ongoing.

This does not mean that a full life cannot be led with tinnitus. Therapeutic counselling can help you to find something beneath the tinnitus distress, within yourself, so that the tinnitus does not define or control you. I can help you to live a full life with the tinnitus.

Here for you.
